Planet Information

Name of planet: Overmis

Size: 1,367km diameter

The small planet of Overmis  has a gravity of about 0.57 m/s^2. That is about one tenth of Earth’s gravity. It follows an elliptical orbit around the two suns of its solar system. The planet is currently re-approaching the suns centered in its orbit, so the planet is slowly warming (and so are its habitants). The only noticeable signs of life on the surface of Overims are numerous fungi and grub-like larvae. Both of which are much, much larger than those on Earth. We can assume that their growth is aided by the reduced gravity of the planet.

As usual for a planet of this size, the largest bodies of liquid on this planet seem to be small rivers at the bottom of the valleys/canyons. The dried mud flats on the surface of the planet seem to suggest some sort of water cycle, although no obvious weather patterns or rain have been observed. There is, however, a small breeze almost everywhere. This wind is not strong enough to impact the pod’s maneuverability, but it can be observed in the swaying of plants and the floating path of the “spores” that they release into the air.

Overall, the planet has quite low temperatures, often falling below 0 degrees Celsius at night. This suggests that the observed pools and streams of liquid are not water based since they don’t freeze during the cold nights. Due to Overmis’s small size, it has a thin atmosphere. However, its atmosphere is surprisingly dense. The air is likely nutrient rich to supplement what the flora cannot get from the rocky ground. An interesting mixture of gases have been recorded in the atmosphere, including an odd gas that seems to release along with spores from larger flora. While there are high levels of oxygen in the air, safety protocols require that airlocks and filtration systems only use internally supplied air from the rover’s reserves.
